I just read a post that makes me want to clear up any confusion about lighting and heat.
When trying to find the right bulbs and heating accessories for ANY reptile/amphibian, you must think in terms of cage temperature, not bulb wattage. We all live in different geographic locations, and individual lighting and heat requirements vary from region to region. Here in California, I do not use any lighting or heat supplement, even in the winter. It is warm enough year round for my cresteds (and red eyed tree frogs) to be comfortable in my house without supplemental heating. 0 watt bulbs hanging above the cages would broil my animals. However, in colder climates, lets use alaska as an extreme example to show the contrast, a 60 watt bulb may be required to get the temperature just right.
The moral of the story is to use any means necessary (within reason) to get the cage temperature to the desired level for the particular species.
