Normals?

Gregz Jun 11, 2003 06:53 AM

I Really don't know about all the different morphs out there but here are a couple of pics of my ball pythons and just wanted to ask some of you people that know more than I "are these normals?"
Thanks in advance,
Greg

they could be junglish high gold wanna-be reduced high blushing choclateish mojavish normals and got for top dollar! LOL

Is this one male or female?

Yes those both look like normals to me...very pretty and nice looking normals at that. No fancy morphs but still some nice normals to be proud of.

with the continual "rape" of Africa's snakes, I highly doubt it.

Well, since this has taken a more serious note... I have to agree. Being of the opinion that all purchases of Ball Pythons should be of CB origin, I am constantly amazed at the number of pythons brought into the country for sale at amazingly low prices.
Refer to the statement below (taken from a University of Michigan page I was browsing...this is from 1996!)

Written by Elisia Lynn Rangel - Bio108 student (96)
"Considering that the royal pythons only mate every two to three years, and when they do reproduce the number of eggs that the female lays is very small, it is easy to see why there is special concern as to high rate exploitation that these snakes face. De Vosjoli states that careful management, including captive incubation of eggs laid by collected females and restocking programs, will be required if the current level of exploitation is to continue. More efforts need to be made to propagate this species in captivity."

I'm sure that everyone on this forum is familiar with the argument, and I don't have any influence over the decisions that other people make. I just hope that people interested in owning pythons as 'pets' will consider where they came from and what impact THEY have on the trade.

Just my two cents...
