Why don't you release the female tokay then? When the eggs hatch you will have captive hatched friendly tokays!

You may want to aim a new post towards Dakman or Ingo about Tokay eggs, they are Tokayologists (if there were such). Or just searched the archive, this subject is in the forum alot. Where do you live to catch a Tokay?!? FL?

drunk_on_chivas Mar 11, 2004 12:47 AM

thanks for the info. i live in malaysia where tockays are somewhat common near forrest areas.
and mediterranean geckos are actually a pest here. funny how ppl actually keep them as pets. they're all over my house. nasty creatures...[bleep] all over the place.

I was really wondering from your previous post where you lived to catch a wild Tokay if it actually was a Tokay but i think you just answered that. My eggs usually take around 100 days to hatch and they can take up to 200. I usually let them hatch out where ever she lays and attaches them. Your temps there are prob fine to not have to use a incubator. Do you have access to take a pic of this WC native Tokay? I sure would like to see it. BTW, just because these eggs are hatched in captivity wont necesarily make them nice and handlable. They will have very strong instincts cause their parents are not captive bred or even captive. Good luck with them.

i'm not using an incubator...just leaving it in a container in my room. the temperature here is favourable enough. i keep a few native snakes and i don't even have to mist them except on exceptionally hot days. i will try to get pics up asap.
when i caught my tockay i also saw a few others and some of them had 2 bulges on their necks. are those males?

israel2004 Mar 11, 2004 07:33 AM

the 2 bulges are calcuim sacs females build up calcuim and it's stored there. So those were more females.
