I have a question

Crotaphytuskidd Mar 10, 2004 12:52 PM

Hello all.

I was curious what kinds of leafy greens everyone uses for
their chucks. I always used red leaf lettuce, bok choy, Dandelion greens, grape leaves, and cilantro, but I couldn't ever keep 'ol Godzilla interested. He eats only blossoms with any regularity. Dandelions (his absolute favorite), globe mallow, Rose petals, desert willow, when they bloom, creosote, all the many ephemeral flowers that grow here in the spring, and oh, yes Portulaca. He gets a nice girth during the spring and summer, but I was curious because he probably needs a bit more fiber in his diet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yours,
Phil

Mustard, Collard, radichio, Squash, Carrots...I intermingle superworms, but this young chuck of mine has absolutely no interest in eating any insects. I keep him with my collareds, so the superworms are really more for the collareds interest, and I hope they will grab a few greens for themselves.

LOL...I don't think they would fit in any of my collareds. I'm not MIXING species...they are still PURE! LOL You got to do what you got to do!

Hello John,
Thanks for the extra suggestions.
Godzilla went straight for the carrots,
I have yet to get the other things you
put on that list, but soon. I have lots
of ephemeral flowers beginning to bloom
here in Apple Valley, which as you can
imagine are like Chuck candy, in fact,
he didn't eat another carrot shred until
he had devoured probably thirty-five Phacelia
blossoms, and twenty dandelions. Well,
if your owner doesn't maintain the healthiest
of eating habits, I would suppose my animals
wouldn't either... =) Once again, thanks for
helping me out.

Yours,
Phil

banana, mine go nuts for it, they take big bites from it, and sometimes stay and keep licking it till its gone.

Only problem, mine gobble it and are such slobs some stays on their mouth area, if it hardens, I put a dab of mineral oil on there.

Mine also love rose petals, which I have in my yard and day lilies .

Shredded sweet potato, shredded apple, blackeyed peas, peppers, so many things, try any veggie.
but......

Banana is something special,

Eve

hey Eve!

I'm gonna try that tomorrow.
I just got some grapes, blueberries and bananas today.
If Godzilla doesn't eat the banana, I know my tortoises will.
They really love 'em. Thanks for the input.
Oh yeah, Godzilla ate grapes... which is new for him,
so thats good. All right, see you later.

yours,
phil
