Hey,

I just built an indoor pond for my two snapper hatchlings. It is 2' by 3' is it big enough for them (charlie is 3" and hannibal is 4" carapace lengths)? They are fed separately and not in the "pond". My main question is... I got a roll of thick bright blue vinyl/plastic for free 6 months ago, is this okay to use as the liner? I have water tested the pond with the liner in and it holds water, I just need to know if it is safe to put the turts in it.

Thanks,
Jasz

After searching the internet, I am almost positive that it is vinyl. Is this safe?

I did a search in kingsnake and I found a lot of references to using vinyl for waterproofing snake cages. Unless somebody tells me different, I am going to fill up the "pond" and put the boys in. Maybe I can convince hubby to take a few pictures. Thanks for reading,

You should be fine.
I have my alligator in a tank I made from wood and lined with an outdoor sign vinyl we use here for printing giant outdoor inkjets on.
Hes been in that for a couple years.
Its great because it can conform to whatever shape.
I made the bottom of the tank get shallower as it gets to one end. That way the animal can sort of pick whatever depth he wants to stay at and it accomodates them as they grow.
