Albino superworm

thekidgecko Mar 10, 2004 02:42 PM

I found this little fella while I was digging through the colony to find some to feed to my leos and this litte gem. I need some advice on what to do with it (besides give it to someone). Should I breed it, or sell it? I am clueless on mealies so I wouldn't be surprised if these are stupid questions. Here it is.

It's a compare and contrast ; the albino's on bottom.

How much would it be worth?

its just a mealworm after all...

at least a VERY small amout (care).

If not, I apologize, but that is merely just a freshly molted superworm. Throughout the larvae's juvenilehood, it will molt several times, after each molt it will be almost white and very soft bodied. This will fade in a day or so, and will harden up as well, turning back into a "normal" looking superworm.

hope this clears up any confusion,

bob

I would feed it like any other superworm. No one is going to buy it and there isn't a market for albino worms.
Let one of your herps enjoy it..

hate to burst your bubble or anything but that is a freshly molted mealworm. It will turn darker as it's new shell hardens. When they first molt they are really white and they slowly darken to cream, then dark normal colors.

Actually the best thing to do with it is feed it to something. Fresh molts are easier for your leos to digest!

It is a Super Mealworm that has shed it's exoskeleton. Some people like to feed them right away to their reptiles because they are softer.
