boas and hides...

I primarily own ball pythons and they use their hides all the time. I have a 2 year old male Columbian and what i believe to be a three year old female(breeder size). I noticed my male has started to not use his hide as much, starting to come out and just chill. The female is a new addition and the cage she was kept in did not have a hide. Maybe it was for display purposes. Do you guys use hides for your Boas, and do they stop using them with age?

Thanks symatic

most of my boas use hides of some sort.

many of my younger boas tend to forgo the actual hide box i provide and sleep under the newspaper. but my bigger boas tend to cram themselves into the logs until they ooze out the side. at the very least, the option should be there in case they're feeling the need to be cozy.

I made my hide spot from the base of a plant pot (like PE uses) and my boa loves it. She spends probably 80% of her time coiled up under there. I have it positioned in her cage so that its abotu half on the warm side and half on the cool side.

It's funny cause whenever I put her back in the cage she instantly darts for her hide spot. Also, what I think is really nice about a hide spot of this type is that you can mist the inside of the hide with water and it will keep that area very humid for when your snake is getting close to shedding.
