Not nessesary, packmans can go as simple as a incandescent light bulb over one coner of its cage; 40-watt would do fine. the reason why i say to put your light over one part of the cage is because you want to create a thermal gradient which simply means you should make one side of the tank warmer than the other because this way the frog will be able to decide weather or not he wants to go to the warm or cool side. also is you keep your house, or where ever you keep your frog, arounf 75 to 80 degress fahrenheit you don't even need a light, some people even perfer not even using a light at all no madder how warm or cool there frog is because these frogs can dry out easily and you wany them to keep moist. I have to you that every boudy has there own idea on temperatures and lighting fixtures for horned frogs so please don't just listen to me or any boudy, but simply put all of your information together and form your own way of keeping packman frogs. Thats what i did and so far in doing very good.
-good luck with your frog

This doesn't have to do with temperature, but more with the UC rays given off by certain lights. I use UVA/UVB lights in most of my tanks so that they can grow live plants. Some people say it can improve the frog's color, but I don't have a definitive answer for that.

Thank you both! This is my first frog, I'm a turtle person primarily. I know that the UV lighting is very important there, as with other reptiles - I just wasn't sure if it was the same with amphibians or not. Thanks!!
