What's going on in this pic? (Exposed skin on vent)

allan_m Mar 10, 2004 06:45 PM

There's some skin exposed on the vent. Is there anything I can do to treat this? Do you think this is possible health issue? Will this affect breeding when she's of age. Thanks for all your help!!!

` Prolapse of cloaca in young Boids is not unusual.
` Just keep an eye on it, to make sure it doesn't increase.
` Usually, it will cure itself.
` If it gets worse, you can soak the cloaca in sugar water. Just a teaspoon of table sugar to a cup of water.
` If it gets worse quickly, I would take the snake to a Vet.
` If too much tissue pushes out, it can strangulate, and become necrotic.

How can you tell if it's necrotic? It seems to be drying out? Initially i put neosporin on it, followed by vaseline? Thanks for you help
