Now that the new kids have settled for a couple days, I took them each out of the cage for a soak and a full body inspection. In general, they look extremely healthy, but they both had some crud accumulated around the toenails (poo and so forth). Turtle looks fine after removing it. Tank, though, has one toe (one of his "thumbs" ) that is swollen to about twice the diameter right where the nail joins. It doesn't seem to bother him and there's no open area, it's just swollen. The swelling is only the tip of the toe, and not into the foot.
I soaked off all the junk and gave him a spray on the feet with a Nolvasan solution.
Anything else I should do? I will be taking them both to the vet soon for a basic check-up. Are there any suggestions for in the meantime?
