has anyone ever rescued a savannah?

kap10cavy Mar 10, 2004 07:47 PM

First I want to thank everyone that has posted useful info here.My savannah was a rescue, obviously mistreated, and abused, and left at a pet store, the owner gave it to me hoping I could save it.That was 7 months ago and yes I took it to a vet,and bought some books, he's very active now and eats like a pig. I have been reading post here for about 6 months and my wife told me to sign on and ask questions. So here goes. How long will it take before he starts filling out? I can still see his hips altho his ribs aren't as visible and his tail is still skinny.
He is about 22 inches at the moment. I'm guessing because I don't want to stress him out with a tape measure.

thank you
Scott

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Thats a hard question to answer. With proper setup's and diet, they can take off fast or if still stressed it can take quite some time. Typically within 7 months though it would be a huge difference from what a skinny mis treated bosc would look like.

I have one here I recently got in as a dehydrated thin monitor. It is now a short thick robusk monitor.

What is your setup like and what have you been feeding and how often?
