Pacing Female Yellowfoot not eating

johnslighthouse Jun 11, 2003 08:31 AM

I have an adult female Yellow foot that has been kept with a male for at least 3 months (maybe longer, I only got her 3 months ago). She has not eaten in about 2 weeks and paces her enclosure for about 10 hours a day. I had her x-rayed and the DVM didn't see any evidence of eggs. I have a hide box filled with dirt/vermiculite, but no eggs have been found, I did, however locate some clear mucous (is this significant?). She is drinking well and I have sustituted water for pedialyte to keep her as hydrated as possible. The DVM can find no reason for this behaviour. I am anxious for ANY advice/ideas.

Try providing cover for her. That is 'brush' or a simulation of brush. Either plant some cover or throw in some old/dead bushes for her to feel secure in. A thich bed of hay might work also. Make sure to fluff it up.
