Baby Ornate Uro . . . .

dragonfliz79 Mar 10, 2004 08:47 PM

This is pretty cute!
I recently got a baby ornate. Beside the greens I always have a dry mix of lentils and bird seed. But the last few day I sprinkled bee pollen in there too. I wasn't sure if he/she was even eating any of it. Then last night I was watching and with his hand/paw he was digging through the bowl looking for the bee pollen. So at a young age they know what they like. I thought it was really cute to watch. Just thought I would share.

I was told to use bee pollen granules as a treat.
I went to: http://www.stakich.com/bfolder/beepollen.htm
and ordered them but a few people told me I could find them in a health food store. Hope this helps.

I find them at a health food store, and one store always has the bee pollen tablets for $1.00 per jar. I just bring home the jar and grind them up to a powder in my food processor. I sprinkle bee pollen on the greens a few times a week. As far as the digging, my one Sudanese digs for the mini peas. She looks you right in the eye and then starts throwing the greens all over to look for peas. It is quite comical.
