Taming update...

triniian Mar 10, 2004 08:59 PM

I want to thank everyone for the advice on taming my CRB.

He's a yearling runt I got a week ago, living in awful conditions and he was mean. In the first 3 days I got bit near 10 times.

He has settled into his new home well and seems to be enjoying his new life. He has calmed tremendously in the last 4 days. No bites recently, no srikes... he's turned a 180 on me. He took his first meal with no problems.

He looks like he's going to be a wonderful pet. I have a digi cam due to arrive tomorrow so hopefully I can post some pics of him soon. I only wish I had a BRB too.

Thanks again.

I am rather new to my BRB's. I have 2 2002 males and a 5 year old 6.5 ft female. The little guys were snappy @ first, but I now handle both for 20 minutes every day. They crawl into my shirt pocket and sleep.
If the crb is eating and is healthy, talking it out for handling will help, and in my experience, feeding thawed food that is only put into the cage to avoid a strike reflex also helps. This way, the snake does not equate the cage opening with a meal.

Good stuff.

Thanks,

I never ever feed any of my snakes in their cages. I try and handle my BCI and CRB daily and my Balls a couple of times a week...

The CRB has been great and seems to trust me (or interactions w/ people) now. I look forward to a great life w/ him.

Thanks again.
