1 heating, i want to use a heat pad in it. it will be built out of wood. how can i accomplish this? place the heat maat inside the enclosure? outside? put anything ontop of it??
2 choice of wood. what kinda wood should i use?
3 what sealer or paint is good?
4 ventilation. should i use pegbaord?

Cut a hole in the bottom of the cage the same size as your heat pad. Cover the bottom of the cage with PVCX or another plastic. Caulk around the edges of the PVCX. Attach the pad to the plastic through the hole.

>>2 choice of wood. what kinda wood should i use?

3/4" thick Plywood or MDO.

>>3 what sealer or paint is good?

chris_harper2 just had a post on this...

How much ventilation do you need? The more ventilation, the more difficult it will be to maintain humidity. Personally, I just buy 3" round plastic vents at Home Depot and use those if I need more ventilation. I start out with no vents and add more as necessary.

Use MDO. Plywood core, with a covering that looks sort of like MDF. Doesn't look like wood, but it's easy to paint and supposed to be very water-resistant (often used outside for signs). If that doesn't work, then you'll have to use a waterproof sealer and caulk ALL seams.
