I host the picture on my website then link to it in the image url line. not sure what others do.

you first have to upload your pics to an online site. you can use kingsnakes photo gallery for free (limited amount of space but you can purchase more).
then you can add them to your messages - using the Tools and Toys link that appears when composing a message or the other options that appear above the Post Message button
