Out of curiosity, has anyone ever used DuPont Corian for any of their herp enclosures? Seems like it would be very useful for herp applications, although I imagine it would be fairly expensive.

Chris,
'Fairly expensive' is a gross understatement. Corian would be so expensive that it would cost more than most animals (including high end morphs) that you could put in it. Sometimes DuPont (or 3M) thinks they can charge whatever they want for their proprietary products. Its a great material but not even close on price to so many other materials more readily available unless you have some that fell off the back of a truck. =o)

In addition, Corian isn't sold to the general public. At least not in the sizes you'd need to build a cage (or countertop)! You have to be a DuPont-trained and certified Corian specialist before they'll sell to you. Not sure if any of the other solid-surface materials are easier to get, or not. As far as I know, none of them are especially cheap...
You can hire Corian installers to line the inside of a plywood cage with it. But, for 1/10th the price you can get a plastic cage ready made, or else line the cage with FEP or other plastic surface.
Yah, pretty much what I figured. The question was just idle speculation really, I have a cutting board made of Corian and it suddenly occurred to me that somewhere someone might have used some in a herp cage.
