Like any of these new laws.......

are going to stop people from keeping these animals anyway. And what about the huge underground trade that will develop(which already exists in pockets).Thats one of the biggest problems/gripes i have is that the state can make a law to "tell you" what you can and cant keep on your property you pay taxes for and in your own house. Are the api, humane society and cdc wackos going to come around to every house wearing jack boots and arrest everyone and euthanize their animals?Im sure they would like to.Its like a friend said to me once-its the yin and the yang, one mans interest is fought against by another man who is on a crusade to end it.Its ashame in the many years people have been keeping exotics(whatever kind you choose to keep)that an organization hasnt been formed for pro-animal ownership to achieve the same thing that the NRA has done for firearm ownership. After writing letters to my health department, about our state laws concerning turtles for instance,i was told that if they and the cdc had there way, they would ban all reptiles as pets, but that under the current administration,it wasnt possible.Im afraid now the"monkeypox"issue has given them further ammo to extend their agendas, which is a total ban.And all the media is doing is repeating verbatim the lies that these people are telling them.I guess im just venting today after reading the cnn article about exotic animals.

I know where you are coming from. We are fighting all this crap with them wanting to ban exotics here. They are just being buttheads. Scared of what we have. They just dont knwo they are going to make the underground boom. But we have to do what we have to do. I am not going to stop having my pets and stop getting what I want. These people can kiss my a**. I have gone to every meeting and listen to the crap they say. All I am getting is they are scared, the animal catchers are scared. If they are so scared they need to find another job. But I want to see how they stop the shipping of everything. There is too many ways to get stuf. I know been there. I live in a little county called Davidson. We have the toughest Sheriff around he thinks. Mr Hege. I would like to see him and his guys stop all this meaning half of them have reptiles themselves. They would be the ones coming out to everyones home and checking because he has to be the big shot around here. But like I told them at the last meeting they will have one hell of a fight on there hands until the law passes one way or another. I dont like noone telling me what I can have and cant have. I pay taxes just like everyone else. The next thing they are going to start on is dogs and cats. Then farm animals. People need to be ready. The law sucks

One thing we need to do for the future of our hobby is educate the public as to what the animal rights movement is all about. They have credibility they don't deserve. PETA is only funded by true animal rights supporters, which is not all that many people, whereas HSUS is supported by animal and pet lovers ( a very large group of people ) who don't know any better. Through HSUS, the animal rights movement is getting a lot more in donations than they would be getting if people knew the truth about HSUS. One thing we can do is inform everyone each one of us knows and hope they spread the word as well.
My .002 cents. Alan,
