Is It Just Me !

kalidraven Mar 11, 2004 09:27 AM

Does anyone else have a problem with ZooMed bulbs or is it just Me.

I seem to pop bulbs in a month or so,i have them on a 12-12 setting and they never last over a month or so.

Im starting to get aggrivated by them,I had one bulb last 3 weeks by them.

The longest bulb I had was 2 months and it was this one,my housebulbs for my Leo's last a lot longer than these bulb's.

for now i have him on his 125watt heat flood with UVB floresent.

Just really annoy's me these bulbs crap out after such a sort time.

I thought the zoo med bulbs came with a year warranty and are suppose to work up to 10,000 hrs. So maybe you can get an exchange or something.

I got 1 zoomed bulb. I put it in at night, and then in the morning when i turned on the light it exploded. Wasn't fun taking out and putting back in 500 pounds of new dirt in a cage. When it happend the lizards where in their caves and burrows so no one was hurt. I might have had the bulb too powerful for the lamp or something, but all i know is i can put a 150 wat bulb with no problem and that was a 100 wat bulb. So i also had bad experiences with them

No, I don't think it's just you--I've had good luck with their flourescent UVB bulbs, but the basking/heat bulbs seem to last approximately 12 minutes for me too...I've quit using them and just use regular 100 watt or 75 watt household bulbs...these work fine and actually last quite awhile...

no, it's not just you. the longest mine have ever lasted was one lasted 4 months, other than that mine go out at about a month or less....if you do try and send it back it takes forever just to let you know....it's not worth it.

i am just using halogens on dimmers now...and also regular house bulbs.

If the bulb is burning out in minutes or within the day, it sounds like the bulb is a higher wattage than the lamp is rated for... maybe you could double check your lamp to see what the max wattage is that you should use....
I do agree however, that household bulbs and halogens work just fine. But same goes... you have to make sure the bulb is equal or less watts than approved for the lamp.
