I have two properly sexed bts I keep them separate but now im trying to breed . They were cooled for three months and now there up and eating again. So i have been placing the female into the male's enclosure she seems to be the aggressor, but she is doing the tail wiggle thing. she keeps him in front view but then turns her body so her tail is visible and she starts the tail wagging. the male just sits there or ignores her until today when she snapped at him he turn very quickly to attack she ran and he bit her on the body just before her back leg. at this point I thought things were going great but his bite looked like he was trying to really do some damage.after she figured she couldn't get away she turned and snapped at his head . she only lached on for a second but he was on the attack again so i separated them.
any thoughts are appreciated.
any suggestion and any questions are all appreciated
thanks Joey

Hi,

Although Sherri and I have Blue-Tongues, I would not consider myself the absolute authority. Edward or James Wilson should be able to take you further.

Males Blue's in my experience initiate a courtship dance-circling around the female. If the female is not receptive, a fight will ensue. Either the male or more likely the female will be battered and badly bitten. If your male has not conducted the dance, he is not ready or rejects the female.

I hope this helps but again, I am not overly active with this species.

Sincerely,
Brian

Although Sherri and I have Blue-Tongues, and I will give you some advice, Edward or James Wilson can take you further.

In my experience, The male initiates a courtship dance around the female by encircling her. If she is not receptive, A fight will ensue. Either the male of female will suffer-usually the female. The female will be battered and badly bitten if not removed. Since your male has not 'done his dance,' he either is not interested period or finds the female undesirable.

I hope this helps but again, I work more extensively with Monkey Skinks.

Sincerely,
Brian

I have 4 Blueys (3 blotched, 1 eastern), and when one of my male blotchies attempted to mate with my eastern she pretty much just copped it, however there was one time when she got really narky and bit my male on the lower jaw - yeah - it looked mighty painful. Anyway - i would suggest that you keep doing what you're doing, Monitor them, but don't be too quick to seperate them. Blue tongue sex is rough, some may even say kinky :P - just watch for blood, and feet in mouths etc... and you should be right. What Blueys do you have?
