stumpy tailed gecko?

what is the meaning of this? i have never seen a gecko quite like it...

how could a stumpy tail possible happen like that

also: some beautiful geckos on this webpage. i really like the tangerine stripes.

looks like a genetic defect. I've seen geckos with kinked tails, err... bent tails that are also caused by genetic defects. IMHO a "stumpy" tail gecko would be bad, since it wouldn't be able to store as much fat/nutrient stores in it's tail.
