Very Large Tadpole.

emumaster17 Mar 11, 2004 01:39 PM

I work at a pet store in the Atlanta GA area and our feeder fish come in with all kinds of weird stuff. We have found crawfish and mussels and stuff like that but the other day I found a tadpole about 4 inches long. I went around to see if anyone knew what it is and another pet store has about 4 or 5 of them between six to eight inches long. Im just curious if anyone knows what they might be?

Sounds like they might be paradox frog tadpoles. The tadpoles are huge but the adult frog is only like 4" long.

I recently read about these scientists who were using hormones on tadpoles and frogs to research cancer and some other stuff. One hormone made the tadpoles grow at an incredible speed and they would get about 4in long (i think). The tadpoles would live about a year, but never grow into frogs. Maybe this'll help you!
