Long-Tailed Lizards Shedding?

Caz2000 Mar 11, 2004 02:37 PM

This probably sounds really dumb but when they shed their skin I always assumed it came off in one piece but my male's skin seems to be peeling off from the feet and leg joints and around the "ears". Should I be worried or is this normal shedding?

Thanks

Caz

This is perfectly normal. Snakes shed their skin in one piece--lizard do not. In fact, some lizards also eat their shed skin.

Thanks alot.

I am a bit concerned as the heat mat I have doesn't seem to keep their vivarium warm enough (it drops to 15 degrees C during the day when the central heating goes off).

Should I get some sort of heat lamp as well?
