Any good way to set up a fluorescent fixture?

chunks_89 Mar 11, 2004 02:57 PM

The new fluorescant fixture i got has 2 light sockets, and works well with only one UV bulb in it, everything works well.

But.
How should i put in on the top of the two new cages i have set up? There are two large curved reflectors on the sides that attach, but they can't hold up the weight of the housing for the fixture. The bulb fixtures are both on the bottom, so I can't rest it on it's underside. How should I attatch the fixture to the cage?

Also, what have everyone had more success with, ficus or umbrella plants? At the moment I have one new cgae set up with an umbrella plant, pothos vine (hanging) and a medium-sized climbing branch. The other new cage has a ficus bush, a large climbing branch and a small spider plant. The guy I am buying the chameleons from has a favourite vine of theirs that i will put in one of the cgaes or cut into two pieces.

Thanks

How tall is your cage? Is there enough room to hang the light housing vertically? This assures that your cham will be closer to the light throughout the cage, not just in a basking area.

There is enough room, but I have one fixture for two cages. I don't really need to buy another one, I will make sure the basking site is 1 foot away from the bulb. The cages are 2'x2'x4' and I have a 48" fluorescant fixture to run across the two of them.

Since I sent that last message I have found out a way of attatching it, but thanks for your help anyway.
