This is a horridus from the Arbuckle Mntns In south central Oklahoma. It's cool how these guys den with atrox.

As we all know, a very common little snake. The one pictured is a Prairie ringneck snake (Diadophis punctatus arnyi). I have caught milks sitting on piles of ringnecks before, and the strange thing is that I have seen this at it's most extreme in Misouri....chad

that probably bolted down that hole at the sound of footsteps LOL

I may be heading down to S. Illinios May 1st or 8th. A professor at Millikin U wants to take a few of his students down there to check it out, and has asked me to help them out. I think they just want to make sure they find snake road, as I'm not that great at finding anything great down there...with the exception of the large red milk last fall which I nearly tripped over within 5 minutes of walking from my car.

Let me know what date you guys decide on...

Scott and I are more the "herp until your legs can no longer carry you and find an uninhabited place along the highway to pass out" type. Anyway, we can camp. Scott and I like to play with fire, as you'll see in our next field report (coming soon), so camping is great. See ya in May when it heats up!
