I use a 10gallon tank for 200 crix, your going to need a bigger container for 500 crix.

As long as you keep them fed and watered buying 500 is a great idea, You may even have enough to keep up a steady population and not have to buy any or atleast very few. You just need a bigger container.

it wont work for one gecko. Buying that many crickets you will need to put a lot of time into keeping the cage clean and feeding them. Also crickets die at 8 weeks of age. And the most my gecko ever ate in one week was 36 1/2 inch crickets. The 1/2 inch crickets are about 4 weeks old (i think). So even if you buy 500 1/4 inch crickets most will die and just smell up the house.

I agree, crix SMELL and they chirp, every have just ONE escape and will never shut up when you're trying to sleep?! Cleaning the crix will require a lot of work, I'm 21 and i can't be bothered, if you're 11 i doubt you or your mom will want to do the job.
mealworms are better option if you're only feeding ONE gecko, or just anything else.

You have no idea how many crickets 500 is, obviously. You would need a large plastic bin, the type you could actually fit a person in. :D
You'd be better off with those new boxed crickets--come 50 to a box, with everything in there that the crickets needs, and you can shake out a few at a time. Your leo isn't going to be eating more than 5-8 or so every other day, some eat less than that.
