Limp and lifeless babies...I need HELP ::

lindsay78 Jun 11, 2003 10:33 AM

These babies are about 3 weeks old, and for some reason, beyond me, they're limp.
and half the time, rather lifeless.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong!
I had feed these little things twice a day ... bath them in tiny little dishes, etc.
they get crickets.
They have the lighting.

I'm just lost for ideas.
I have adults. I've had babies that are now adults, and they're perfectly healthy.
But these little babies that I hatched myself jsut aren't the same.
They seem almost docile and depressed.
HELP.

Maybe too hot, or not hot enough? Maybe try misting more often? Maybe try to change their tanks up a little? I like groups of 5-10 babies at that age, maybe they are lonely or over crowded? Maybe try some actual sunlight outside? Just some ideas. Good luck, Chris

What are your temps? What size of group in what size container? Are the containers brightly lit? Are they getting bigger......any of them shed yet? I know you've raised beardies before as you said.....sometimes you do get a different batch so to speak.......I would try some "bug juice" and some parazap to stimulate them, make sure their tanks are brightly lit and that the temp gradient is ok. Let us know how they are.

Well, these little babies have a story behind them.
Three days after being born, all of them, except for two were killed by a room mates escaped cat.
So in my eyes, these little 2 remaining beardies are little treasures.

I went home at noon, and they were alert and actually moving around! ... This is a first, just hoping they're turning a corner for the best.
I fed them a bit of sweet potatoe mixture (baby food) and they even licked it off the end of the suringe. This is a first.
They were reacive to me picking them up, which they didn't like.

Does anyone have the recipe for the bug mixture?
I will do and try anything right about now.

The lights are all the proper temps, etc.

I just think they're going to be slow developers. Who knows why. They're the first clutch my female ever had, and it was a very low fertile rate.

Who knows how mother nature works.
Just have to go with the flow sometimes...

I'll keep you all updated, and thank you so much for you help. Just the moral support seems to make a difference at this point.

I've had beardies for several years and one thing is for sure, they are intelligent creatures! It wouldn't suprise me that they could be mourning for their lost siblings. Oh, that makes me so sad. At three days old they seem pretty aware of their surroundings and alert. Just my thoughts. Good luck!
