Moonstruck vs. Boaphile cages...kinda different type of questions??

susanpearl Mar 11, 2004 08:04 PM

Hi,

This is really geared towards herpers who hopefully have experience with both types of cages. I'm still searching for a large cage and I'm considering boaphile and moonstruck.

Are they constructed of the same material? If so, how different can they be? They are both glued together, and use acrylic style doors.

The reason I ask is because a 72x24x18 boaphile cage will set me back $492 and the same size cage from moonstruck will set me back $389.

If they are about the same thing, why pay more? Is there any advantage with Boaphile to justify paying more?

Any opinions on this....

Thanks,

Susan P.

Hello
I personally own a 4x2x1 moonstruck and keep a 6' colombian bci in it. One of my business partners has a pair of boaphile enclosures and he keeps as big/bigger boas in his. I personally would make my decision on which to go with depending on the type of animal I planned to keep in it. I for example would get a boaphile if I planned to keep a burmese python or reticulated python, and the reason for that is I do not know how durable the end tabs for the doors on a moonstruck will be when a large bodied large animal is pushing on the door. If I was going to keep a large boa in it I would go with a moonstruck as I know the door and latches can handle the load of a bigger boa.

Just to add, I am not saying the door tabs on moonstruck are weak/fragile, I just do not know how durable they are..
