A couple of FBT questions please!!

wideglide Mar 11, 2004 08:05 PM

I know there's a toad forum but there's about as much traffic over there as the middle of the desert so I'm posting here instead.

Everything I've read says feed them 2-3 times a week or once every other day but I find it hard to believe for a small, growing toad that's enough.

Why? Because my toads act like they are hungry every single day. They sit at the glass and stare at me if I haven't fed them yet that day. When I feed them they eat aggressively. I feed them 2 silkworms a piece and the worms are good sized. Does anyone have an opinion on this? I don't want them to be overweight but I would think adults should be fed less than young, growing FBT's.

Also, and sorry this is getting to be so long, one of my FBT's had another FBT's leg in it's mouth. I think it was trying to eat it! I intervened and I don't think there's any structural damage but the tips of the toads toes look like they've got some damage. Is there any precaution I should take as far as infection goes or just wait and see how everything turns out. I don't see any blood, just a lack of color compared to others toes.

Thanks a ton for any help anyone can provide!!

About the feeding, I don't think you should feed them every night, I heard that if they get fat, they can die early. Also, the lady at the pet store said that most frogs will keep eating, even if they are full. Keep that in mind.
