corn breeding question

rynwilliams Mar 12, 2004 02:50 AM

I beleive that my female corn snake is gravid as she appears to be getting bigger, is it possible for her to lay all infertile eggs? i am not sure if my male has actually mated with her, everytime she tries to mate with him he tries to get away, they might have suceffully mated on one occasion but i cant be sure.

Usually you will know if they bred if there is a bloody residue left on the newspaper (if you use newspaper)after they've been together a couple days. In my experience they usually breed pretty much as soon as you put them together or they're just not interested at that time. You should eventually be able to tell if your Corn is gravid by feeling the egg lumps in her belly..of course there is a chance she will reabsorb the eggs or lay a clutch of slugs as well..you'll have to wait and see what happens.
