Found an egg

korina Mar 12, 2004 09:15 AM

I found an egg this morning. It must be that time of year. Can someone give me a quick update on what to do? It has been a while since I read up on it - and I am pregnant so the mind isn't working the greatest.
Appreciate any help.

As a mother of a 4 month old, I know EXACTLY what you mean.

Get some vermiculite, moisten it 1.1 by weight with water (not by volume, you just want it slightly moist). Place the egg in a container of this with just the top showing, and cover to hold in moisture (it will need air, so a few small air holes, or opening the top every couple of days, will serve that purpose--just be sure to keep the moisture level up, add water when necessary, but don't flood it).
Incubate at 80 degrees if you want female, 88 if you want male, or 85 if you want to be surprised. Keep the temperature as stable as possible. You should have babies in a month to a month and a half.
