Head of housing was in my room

holyhandgrenade Feb 07, 2003 12:02 PM

I go to college and the guy that runs housing let himself into my room today when I wasn't here. We are not supposed to have pets or alcohol in the dorms. I had my bloods and chinchillas sitting pretty for when he first walked in, then he saw my alcohol. F***ing B**tard. I dunno whats gonna happen to them or me now.

Good luck! When I was in school, we were aloud to have alcohol in the dorms (thank goodness!) and my snakes were no problem, but our kitten could have caused some trouble. Thankfully, my RA liked her and would "borrow" her on occasion to impress the ladies. Wow, I;m gettin old cuz that was waaaaaaay back in '87! LOL

Why did you think that you could possibly get away with this? In my opinion It's a case of major irresponsibility on your part and if your animals get taken away it's nobody's fault but yours. Hiding a few beers is one thing but animals in a dorm? C'mon.

Hey billy, have you ever heard the phrase 'if you dont have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?' If you haven't then shut up and don't say anything unless its constructive - I know 'holyhandgrenade' and no one is taking away his snakes, the post wasn't even meant to be replied to. Get a life

Sorry billy, my mistake - you were the nice one

No prob!

Hey patrick,
Why the hostiility brotha? The snakes won't be taken away and never given back. I'll prob have to move out of the dorms after a judicial hearing. The guy just let himself into my room! I find that to be an invasion of my privacy. The cops can't even do that without a search warrant. I live with 12 guys in a house. There is 8 snakes altogether, including my three, two chinchillas that are mine, 4 geckos, a hedgehog and a hamster. I guess everyone in my house is irresopnsible too. And all the other ppl on campus that have pets. Gimmick made a mistake, he was yelling at patrick not billy. I wanted to clear that up. The head of housing already found me guilty of having alcohol, which wasn't mine, so I have been on double secret probation for awhile now. He came into my room looking for alcohol and happened to find the pets as well. They are just innocent bystanders. Two things can come of this... 1. I have to get rid of my pets, which means they go and stay at my parents house. ( Momma don't like snakes much, but she can't stop holding them lil' chinchilla rascals. or 2. Me and my pets have to move off campus and I become a commuter again. Oh well life sucks sometimes and then you die. Either way, I'm thinking about feeding the head of housing to my chinchillas, nasty lil' buggers.

Hey guys, first of all this IS a forum which means that I can express my feelings about any subject that comes up in here. I chose to reply to your post because I don't like the situation you put yourself in. A little thinking ahead can go a long way. For instance- OK, I want a snake.... I want to go to college...GREAT! I am going to live on campus.... No pets allowed on campus....Well.... then I guess I'll find a place off campus where the snakes and chinchillas can roam free if they want.

I went to college too fellas and I kept 3 burms of 12-14 feet, 4 ball pythons, an 8 foot boa and an adult male yellow anaconda. I just made absolutely sure that I had a place that was big enough and had a landlord that was cool enough to let me keep them all. There was no possibility that my animals would get me in trouble or that they would be taken away simply because I took the time to cover all bases.

Good luck and no hard feelings

Our official policy was anything that couldn't live underwater wasn't allowed. However, the actual enforced policy was gays in the military... don't ask, don't tell. Although my RA knew, loved my guys (just two ball pythons and a calking). Other students had bearded dragons, geckos, variety of colubrids (kings, milks, corns), turtles, also furries (ferrets were the most notable). The dorm was all single rooms so as long as you didn't make a problem for anyone else, no one made a problem for you. To the naysayers... it is a LOT easier to "sneak" animals into a dorm than to find herp-friendly apartments in college areas. Although thankfully in grad school now, I have found a landlord who doesn't care. A very RARE find around here.
