I am so excited! Eggs getting closer to hatching

Thera Jun 11, 2003 11:47 AM

I am getting so excited as my first clutch of BD eggs gets closer and closer to hatching. I'd say 2 more weeks at most and they'll be peeking at me. Any last minute tips for me? I know not to help them hatch and to have plenty of food on hand when they do get all the way out of the eggs. I know to separate them by size and to watch for tail nips.

I just hope they have their parent's good looks and their mom's out-going people oriented personality. Everyone's so excited, all their future owners are just on the edges of their seats.
I love all 15 of them already and we haven't even met yet.

Be warned, it takes a while for them to get all the way out of the egg. Many people panic when it takes a day or two for them to come out. Also they most likely won't eat for a day or two. The yoke tends to hold them for a couple days.
Keep them hydrated & they should be fine.

Good luck

yeah I've read about how it takes them a long time. Not worried about that at all. I've been reading lots of baby posts just trying to get a feel for what I'm in for. I'm going to go nuts when I see the very first one...

hey, when a baby is about to hatch how much of the egg do they take up? I'm trying to figure out how to tell when hatching is getting really close.
