Well now I have had him for three days. Like I have said before my goal was to leave him alone as much as possible for the first week. But just changing his water is a challenge. He loves to huff and puff and strike at any and everything.

He is a '03' 172.7 grams almost 30" long that as far as I know has been in a shoebox rack all his life. I have 3 24" Neodesha cages coming some time soon (I hope). I will put him in one of those since they are enclosed on all sides except the front. That may make him feel more secure. I have become worried that his attitude problem may be coming from something other than environmental like like parasites. Temps and Humidity are perfect. He has access to water and hides on the warm and cool side.

So I put a long pair of socks on over my arms...don't laugh and woke him up to weight him. He was fine, picked him up put him in a small box. Then he started going crazy again. I put him down on a rubber mat so he could not get away, picked him up and gave him a good look over then gave him a dose of Fenbendazole.

Then while holding him I just let go of his head thinking if I take a hit from him it couldn't be to bad. He has to calm down some time. I held him like any other snake and he was like a kitten. Just chilled out. Flicked his tongue and moved nicely. After a couple of minutes of holding him I set him back in the cage and he went wild again. Crazy. (I again apologize for my pics. I do not like using the flash when I take pics of the snakes.)

Thanks. I did just get an email with some advice from the breeder he said "The best strategy is to immediately reach into their cage and pick them up before they get their act together."

That's just a hog island for ya. My son's did the same thing for months after we brought her home. Some do it, some don't. It just took time to cure it. My son's hog is 3-4 years old now and doesn't do it anymore. This may sound stupid, but it's my son's snake, she likes him best, and I would assume it's because he handled her during this stage of her life. One thing we did do was my son would wear a tshirt all day then stick in her cage, this helped out alot and fairly fast. Good luck, and I agree with the breeder who emailed you. Stop and think how would you feel if you saw this big 5 digit thing coming at you when you were so small, I think I would be hissing too! Hope this helps!
