Feeding...how often?

jediknightbria Mar 12, 2004 07:55 PM

I've had my turtles almost two years now...is it OK to feed them every other day instead of every day? How much should I give them (how many sticks)? I don't want to overfeed them, but they're such horrible little beggars!

After a year of age you should be feeding them every other day. For pellets, a general guide for portion size is to give each an amount that would fit into the size of their heads, not including the neck. If they`re almost two, they should also be enjoying more plant matter, aquatic plants and green leafy veggies (excluding spinach, broccoli, cabbage and iceberg lettuce). Some can be offered daily. Add some cuttlebone to the tank for a calcium supplement; take off the hard backing and break into pieces. (And you can offer an occasional treat.)
