Can I purchase a sliding rail for glass doors at Home Depot?

scottsummers Mar 12, 2004 09:50 PM

Hi Everyone,

I would like to use sliding doors on my homemade cage (similar to the vision cages).

Where can I find the sliding rails for the glass? Would Home Depot have them available? What department?

Thanks,

Scott S.

I could not find them at Home Depot or any other store like that. I got mine from a woodworking store. or you can get them at www. Rockler.com They have wood ones for $20, aluminum for $40-$52 and plastic for $11. hope this helps.

And don't expect to get help from the employees..lol
I luckily found them back in the door section, I had to replace the handle on my screen door, and turned my head..bam there stood a tube full of the 6' bags of 1/4" sliding door tracks..

I had been told over and over they didn't carry them..apparantly they don't keep an inventory..

that. Someone posted pics of such a cage - it looked awesome, with vinyl window frame and sliding glass frames.

Hello,

You can indeed get them at Home Depot. They're in the Millwork section (doors and windows), specifically they'll be found in the same isle as the bifold doors. The package comes with a top and bottom track and some screws. I think the whole thing is about 7 feet long to fit standard closet openings and will accomodate 1/4" thick glass or plexiglass. You'd have to order the glass from a glass store though since Depot doesn't sell anything thicker than standard 1/8" window glass. They do however sell the 1/4" plexi though.
