Update and need help with sick male and new female ??

dmlove Mar 12, 2004 10:40 PM

Poor guy, i feel so bad. His fat pads are sunken. This all happened in a matter of days, although the feeding stopped a while back, he was still extremely active. I am force feeding him chicken/peach/sweet potato/pedialyte baby food w/ calcium, alongw ith keeping parazap up. I really hope he gets his appetite back. Im going to bring another fecal and maybe him into the vet soon.

The new female i geuss is still adjusting, still hasnt eaten. Kinda just sits around. Hope she gets better soon. ANyone have any suggestions again for the male? do they usually perk up after being force fed for a little? I hope so, his fat pads are nearly gone and his eyes are kind of sunken in. Ive been giving him water and pedialyte and parazap and everything so lets hope. Everyone pray for him. Thanks

Here he is a while ago...

Our draco has stopped eating nearly a week ago. He's active as usual but will not eat, just wants water.

So I thought maybe you could help us?

The male is the same one i bred. But the female is a new adult i bought 2 days ago, so i think she is just adjusting. My other female is on her second clutch of eggs and doing great!!! Ive got a scheduled vet visit, poor Ralphie. Im doin the best that i can, i think its sever parasites, although he was negative a few weeks ago. His fecals are runny and smelly, so thats my geuss. Hes on parazap, but most likely im going to get him to the vet in the next day or two anyway.

Of couse it was for you.. You are the one asking for the help in this thread right??? Hmm sever parasites in such a short amount of time is unlikey to cause such fast dabilatating symptoms all of a suddun that you are describing, Actually adults are pretty resistent to parasites, and it would take quite awhile before these symptoms described surfaced. Was he eating before mating? Also you said he had clean fecals a couple weeks ago. Was this before breeding your female, and was she tested as well? What was her results?? How many times did they mate, and in what time period? The sunken pads is not a good sign expecially happening so fast on an otherwise healthy male used for breeding. "I am force feeding him chicken/peach/sweet potato/pedialyte baby food w/ calcium, alongw ith keeping parazap up." The force feeding might not be such a good idea (causing more stress), and most dragons unless extremely lethargic will take food dripped on their snout by giving them a taste by parting there lips on the side and placing a drop in. I wish you luck in this matter. As for the new female she's only been with you a matter of 3 days?? Give her some time and while taking in samples for your male maybe you should do one for her as well. Good Luck.

Alright lets see---yep im gonna bring in some fecals for everyone when i bring Ralph in. He was eating just after brumation, then stopped and was always pacing his cage w/ black beard (wanting to mate i geuss) He had a clean fecal, along with the female, when they mated, because i took a fecal in a few days after brumation and they had negatives. I was still wondering what was wrong with him, so a week after mating (only mated once) i took another fecal in and it was negative. He didnt take anything, even his treats, and was always focused on mating. He mated last year, and this did not happen. The female he mated with was perfectly healthy. He will not take anything dripped on him at all, except parazap and water. I really needed to give him some energy and calories. He was never good at takeing something semi solid and eating it from being dripped. I had to force feed. He is kind of active, but more lethargic. His stool is watery and smelly. I tried watering the baby food down a lot, so its consisitency would be just like water, but that was a no go either, didnt take it. Also the reason i asked if it was for me was because you posted as a "reply " to the person who answered mine (dont know username)and they asked a question as well. Well i hope this helps, im doing what i can i geuss. Thanks
