I have a breeding pair of malis in a 5LX3WX2H cage. There is 1 foot of dirt and 2 nesting cambers below the surface withe a pvc pipe going up to the surface so it is like a burrow. They bred last year, and i am almost posative that my female is gravid, because within 2 weeks she gained another 18 grams. I have 4 uros in this set-up, and it works great.

1.1.1 maliensis (Spike, Marshmellow, Hummer)
1.0 acanthinurus-werneri (Mongas)
0.1 ornata (Chubs)
0.1 Pit Bull/German Shephard/Lab/ect. mix (Kodak) - looks like an over grown toco bell dog.
I'm actually furnishing a cage for a breeding pair of malis, the cage was just finished a couple of days ago and it's 4ftlx3ftwx2fth, i would probably say that a 4ft by 2ft by2ft would be the least (at least thats what i've been told) i made mine a little wider because i had a little more room but bigger is always better, just make sure you have a burrow for each mali and seperate basking areas exc. and they'll be fine! hope this helps

would u mind posting some pics of your cage with the multiple basking sites, hides, etc. plz?
