feisty red tail boa

ShiaKun Mar 13, 2004 12:16 AM

Since I've had my red tail boa, roughly two months, it has never had the habit of biting that it seems to have contracted lately. I have always been able to pick it up without biting ubut it has done so twice without warning, quickly letting go. I assumed it was hungry but when I tried to feed it, it strangled the mouse and proceeded to ignore it. It wasn't even like this when it shed and there is no indication of a new shed period approaching. Any ideas what the cause could be? Thanks!

...probably...just figure out what it is...

Good temps/humidity?
Playing with it too much?
Keep him in a high traffic area like the living room, etc?
Got lots of hides?
Kept with any other snakes?
Too big of a cage?
Transparent cage or opaque?
Got dogs or cats that are nearby? Smells on your clothes?

Go into very specific detail about your situation, and you can probably get some good advice.
