Setting???????????

ASK Jun 11, 2003 12:30 PM

Hi, I probably sound idiotic but I have mixed info here. My breeder says that I should have both my heating lamp and my UTH on the same side and the hideawayy on that side also the water dish should be in the middle. Then climbing equipment on the cold side. Then my other source of info is that I should have the lamp on 1 side the UTH on the other and have nothing in the middle. He says the hideaway should be under the light the water dish in the middle and the climbing equipment over the UTH. I am confused so please help. Thanks for the help in advanced.

I would recommend using the lamp and UTH on the same side. And I also put the water dish on the cool end. This provides a nice heat gradient with the water on the cool end. Some times when snakes are soaking I would move the water closer to the warm end, but never on top of the UTH, or under the lamp. I also just use a nice hide about in the middle and not directly on the warm side. I never used any climbing materials in my Ball Python cages as I have never had a real climber with a Ball Python. Hope this helps.

I keep the UTH and the light on the same side of the tank and then the water bath on the opposite side. I keep the climbing branch across the whole tank so he can decide whether to climg on the hot side or cool side.
Theres a pictures of it on the website.

I would reccommend hides on the cool AND warm sides. Water dish in the middle or cool end would be fine. Yes, keep the UTH and lamp on one side together.
