Hi!
Congratulations.
I've got a few questions here:

Did you know she was gravid?
Was it obvious, was she very thick?
Did she stop eating? When?
Which daytime did she lay the eggs?

How old/long is she approx.?

Thanks in advance,
gurkee

Did you know she was gravid?

Yes, sure!

Was it obvious, was she very thick?

She was very thick (one could see the form of the eggs in the body).

Did she stop eating? When?

She had the pre-laying shed, then she ate 2 small mouses, then stopped eating, and after about 15 days (?)(I'm not sure about the number of days, sorry) she began crawling and then laid in the laying box filled with torb-soil.

Which daytime did she lay the eggs?

I think during night: I found the eggs in the morning.

How old/long is she approx.?

She is about 180 cm, but I don't know how old: she was W.C. but well deparasitized by myself !
The male is about 200-220 cm.

I have now 6 Spilotes. They are beautiful animals !

Hi!

Thanks for the answers.
Spilotes are great animals indeed. I own 1.1 of them, of which my girl might be gravid. But I'm not completely sure yet.

I have another question.
Did you manage to observe a copulation?

greets,
Martin

Yes, I've always seen the copulations !

P.S. I've opened the incubator...the eggs are 5 indeed...

I've always believed this species to be spectacular.

Please describe their care and reproductive husbandry.

Please cover their dispositions also. Thanks.

I keep my Spilotes separately one in each terrarium.
I put male and female together when I want them to mate.

They are not very arboreal: my animals are more terrestrial.
Their size vary from 130-140 cm to 200-220 cm.

My terraria are about 100-50-60 cm, I've a bigger one (135-90-70) and two smaller one for my 2 subadults.

Spilotes are not "big eaters" like for instance taeniura friesi; they also don't grow so fast as friesi.

Temperature vary from 21 (nights in winter) to 30 °C or slightly more just under the neon-tubes.
Humidity is increased by the use of a rather large water-bowl, but it's not very higher than normal ambient humidity...I only spray terraria occasionally or just before shedding.

I use neon tubes for lighting and cables and heating carpets for heating, but I keep these devices on the lateral walls or over the top of the cages (not under, because I think it can be harmful for developing eggs).

I hope to be useful with my infos...
