Unusual delay in birth

Hi,
I have got a mouse that give birth to three pinks five days ago, this morning she gave birth to another eight is this unusual. The male was trying to mate with her when she had the three and also this morning.

Unusual. and I would be thankful.....usually that big a delay means something is stuck, babies die and rot and mom dies an ugly death.

That is very unusual. I don't think that I have ever seen that. I would just leave them alone. I don't imagine that she will cannibalize them due to the unusual nature of the birthing. Keep us posted.

Hi,

All the babys are doing fine the first three are huge and the rest are growing just fine. After she gave birth to the first three she no longer looked pregnant. She is kept with a male only, so i know they were hers. I was going to use some of her babys to start a new colony, but iam not sure wether to now incase i have problems with these when they are pregnant. Any thoughts as to what i should do?
