How long is too long to force feed?

newkid Mar 13, 2004 09:52 AM

Going on fifth day of panacur and baby food. I THINK she ate a cricket one night but not positive. I tried not feeding her baby food lastnight and I know she didnt eat a cricket lastnight so I fed her baby food this morning.

Any thoughts on this please?

Thanks

i have one of my favorite leos that i force fed for months, many times i thought of putting him down, he had reproductive problems i cleared up and eye infections too. after all this he is blind in one eye with limited vision in the other but is the sweetest leo ever!
you said your giving baby food, thats good (meat stuff right?)id supplement it with some vitamins if you can. and also, your using panacure, was that just once? i wouldent give it every day, once a week tops , and thats only if you think the reason s/he is sick is due to parasites (any vet can do a fecal exam and tell you a basic idea of whats going on even if its not an "exotics" vet). to much panacure will just make the poor little leos body work harder to get that processed and not be able to digest the food as well.
hope this helps!

Vet said panacur .05 cc once a day and shes eating banana and peach.

Shall I stop the panacur?

Thanks

Please go get that girl a jar of meat baby food, asap.

I think you should talk to your vet. I agree that daily panacur is really excessive but your vet may have his reasons for this...please talk to him about it.

Just goin by another breeder...with the peach and banana, thats what I thought too. The meat is stage 2 and thicker is that ok?

Here it is:

In a blender, combine:
1 small can Hill's A/D pet food (available at most vets)
1/4 cup Ensure (not chocolate)
1/4 cup pedialite
1 jar baby food squash or 1/4 cup plain canned pumpkin
1/2 tsp. each calcium powder and herp vitamins
2 crushed tablets or 2 opened capsules of milk thistle (found at most places that have vitamin and herb supplements - it is a liver purifier)
* a handfull of mealworms puree'd with this mixture if you can deal with that!
- Pour slurry in ice cube trays and freeze, thawing out only what you will use in a few days.

Mix that up and then put a little bit on her nose at a time. She'll lick it off.

Pick up a bottle of the crested gecko diet by t-rex. It's a powder you mix with water that is a complete food.
good luck
