lovesallanimals Mar 13, 2004 11:52 AM

I have just bought a new RES from a pet store that was not taking very good care of him. He is now in a tank with one other RES.They only problem is he is a little big for my tank and I need to know what size tank I should get for them. The new guy is about 4 inches and the little guy is about 2. I also need to know what type of filter to get the one I have now is pretty old and does not do a good job of cleanig the tank. I have a 15 gallon tank and I know it is too small! Please help me!!

I'd say get at least a 40 gallon breeder or larger, because both turtles are going to grow! If you can't afford a tank that large right now, then get to Home Depot, Lowes, Wal-Mart or other home improvement store and get a large Rubbermaid container. You can use a 10 or 20 long aquarium screen to put over one end for the lights.

You can check classified ads in the local paper or visit thrift stores and yard sales for used tanks. Just be sure to bleach them out before using them.

you could always make one. it isn't all that hard, get precut plexyglass, clamps, and a [bleep]load of appoxy. it is about a gillion dollars cheaper.
