Has anyone had any success in breeding Pyxidea? If so do you have any advice? My male constantly trys to mount my female but my female isn't giving in. I'm wondering if the female is mature yet or not she is smaller than the male.
Thanks

My males mount the females. I've had eggs...no luck hatching though. Another time eggs were laid they were crushed.
Are your keeled's relatively young? Have they been mature long? Also, my keeled's don't move much. They bury themselves with just their heads exposed. They stay put for a couple days then they start moving around. They eat like pigs though. I keep the temperature at 75 degrees F. Humidity is way up there and they have a good size enclosure. Do yours move around much?
I have juvies and adults. Going to get a hatchling next week though. I have my temps at 75. At night 65. Some move around alot, some just dont move and are quite. The ones that move around though...they go all over the place. Do you have any pics of your enclosure?
No pics, but I will try to get some this week for you. I'm going to get some more keeled eventually when I can find some. My male however, dosen't eat much vegetation, but my female does. Do you have any problems with some of yours not eating any vegetation? Here is the lay out of what I have feed them: bananas, grapes, shredded carrots, blackberries, apples, romane lettuce , meat wise: pinks, crickets, meal worms, snails, night crawlers cockroaches, soaked dry dog food (rarely). I feed them 3 times a week, with 2 meat meals and 1 veggy meal. What is your feeding regiment?
Try some cantaloup and various melons. Mine go crazy for them.
I keep these turtles also. Mine also go crazy over melon. I feed them cantaloupe, mango, papaya, not much banana, collard greens, red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, mushrooms, squash, zuccini, grapes, earthworms, mealworms, sometimes pinkies, and lean ground turkey occasionally.

Does anyone know how to increase mating success for their keelds? I have been putting my male and female in a smaller enclosure together to increase mating success for about an hour. I watch them closely to make sure their isn't any injuries. The male constantly tries to mount the female, but she isn't relenting. I don't want my female to over strees. Am I going about this wrong? Thanks
My females relent for quite some time, but they give in eventually.
My males always chase them around trying to bite the legs and the shell. They will bite the neck too.
You should try misting and a slight temp increase and humidity increase.
Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it.
