shootist Mar 13, 2004 06:01 PM

looking to buy two beardies in april yet i have a few questions...

-may 2 diff morphs house together?

-can they be bred like leopard geckos so that you get males or females? if not, can they be sexed as babies? i dont want to end up with two males/females...

-what are some things to look for when purchasing a citrus, red, or leucistic beardie as a baby? they all seem pretty much the same except the leucistics

-how long until they reach full length?

-new york area how much would leucistic, citrus, sand fire, red, etc... approx go for?

Well first off you probably wont find a leucistic and if you do look to spend about $500.00 for one. You can house 2 different morphs together but there's finds that don't go. Like male and male or male and female. The only thing you can house together is female female. And you still run some risks. They cannot be sexed accuratly as babies and if you want 2 and you want them in the same cage the only way it will work is Female Female. If you have to seperate cages then your fine. But if you want to breed DONT INBREED. They should be full lenght at about 8 months to a year 2 months. Prices for the citrus and red will run you about $100.00 a piece. Hope this will help you make some decisions.

Sounds like you're looking to breed and haven't owned them before. Please, keep dragons for a while before you get into breeding. They are much different than geckos, so comparisons between them and beardies won't work 99% of the time.
