tegus in love

alioops Mar 13, 2004 06:22 PM

Hi- it's been in the 80's in no. calif. this week and my B W tegu Jujuy and Otis the blue tegu are carrying on like there's no tomorrow. They live in an outdoor pen and hibernated, and now love is in the air. In fact I had to build a barrier and separate them because Otis was getting a little out of control and biting her on the neck too much.

My question is, do the blues interbreed with the black and whites? I know they are currently catergorized as being the same species, but I personally think they aren't and was wondering if anyone has actually seen/heard of them breeding. I saw the postings here about red/blue crosses, and am wondering if there are black/blue crosses out there. Maybe I need to start knitting booties.

I'll try to post a pic of them soon- not too x-rated.

never heard of a blue and black cross. The blue is a subspecies of the BW.
