BP's feeding response...

lilroach56 Mar 13, 2004 08:10 PM

In the 5 weeks that i have had my BP only two of the attemps at feeding it has ate. The first week (after 1 week of not handling or feeding) i offered BAM it got the mouse on the first strike. The second week it is striking at the mouse but didn't constrict (the snake got a hold of the mouse). Third week i offered BAm first try again. Now tonight it was striking and hitting the mouse but never tried to constrict. Anyone know why this is happening? if it makes a difference the 2nd time i feed it was the day after pooping, and today was the day after shedding.

Are you feeding live, fresh killed or frozen thawed? I f it is frozen thawed it may have to do with the temperature they are at, or the way you are offering him the mouse at.if it is too cold it could be a defense response rather than a food response, which might explain the not constricting. not sure if I am right at all but just rying to help. Good Luck

i am feeding live due to absolutely no feeding response with FT and prekilled. I am going to try a prekilled tommorow.
