red leg pictures...?

anemone Mar 13, 2004 09:41 PM

I've heard this is commen in frogs, but have never seen it. I thought my last WTF had it, but turned out he didn't. Does anyone have any pictures of this disease?

Check out the may 2004 edition of reptiles. It has a picture of red undersides caused by this disease. But you need to realize, not every frog with "red leg" develops the red leg symptom. Red leg is simply an infection of Aeromonas bacteria. This normally causes a frog to stop eating, become lethargic, and eventually die. It may or may not include the reddening of the underbelly which results from the rupturing of blood vessels under the skin.
