Tampa Show was one of the best, and the Hard Rock Hotel/Casino was great.

CheriS Mar 13, 2004 11:01 PM

We got to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on the grand opening night on Friday and then the Tampa Reptile Show today.

Fantastic hotel, loads of really nice grand opening gifts including a big leather duffel bad in our room when we checked in loaded with goodies, a remote control mini cooper auto, a nice large crystal guitar, a glass teddy beard full of gummie bears and more. It was part of the reptile show special for people with the show. Best time I have had in a long time. If anyone gets to the Tampa area, this is a place you have to stay

Met up with Joel at the show and we helped each other spend some money, thank heavens I won some in the casino, but little sleep as I was playing poker til 6 am in the morning!

Joel got a few nice young snakes, and I loaded up with cases of Rep-Cal pellets $10 a bag, lights $37-$44 for MV, corner caves @ $15 and insects $10 a thousand for crickets, $20 for 100 Supers and some wax worms. Also another 65 gallon tank for $60.. All good buys!!

There were some really nice bearded dragons, but also some poor looking ones

Joel and I ran into a lady that told us her dragons were Sandfire cause they have color, others are gray and not Sandfires, she knows her's are Sandfires as they look the same as ones in the reptile magazine..... LOL, oh, the mouth gap and recessing lips on one we asked about was because he fought with siblings. Poor little thing, it was not bad, and probably could be helped but she was impossible to talk to, she's been raising dragons for 10 years she claims.

Joel and I kinda of lost it laughing as she banged her fingers together showing us how they fight to cause it.

It was an interesting weekend so far

Sounds like you had fun

I didnt know about the Tampa show last week, but what sucks is that i was IN FLORIDA, lol. I went on vacation and on the car ride down there (i am from michigan) i was reading the recent Reptiles magazine and saw a huge ad for it. It was being held a couple days after we were going to get back home =( we were seriously thinking about staying an extra few days down there to make it, but didnt have enough money for more hotel rooms. Oh well, I wanna try and go to the Daytona one this year, never been to any huge reptile show yet, just my small local ones.

Sounds like a great weekend - I wish I could go to more expos in USA! On the other hand - I think I'll have my hands full this summer anyway with the babies coming!

Take care!
